Every married couple gains a magic tattoo on their wrists, which represents the partner’s wing. The ritual of how to gain this tattoo is different for every family.

The age for getting legally married is different for every family as well. Afet and Caglayan don't have any restrictions, Belig and Devrim need to be at least 16, Atabey and Inci at least 18 and Eser at least 21 cycles old to get married.

Hybrids are able to marry both of their respective families.

GERMAN

MARRIAGE

AFET

The harem owners marry their members by giving them either gilded tips or floating rings (yes, they are married to every member of their inner circle). The Afet is therefore married to several people, but still only has one wing on their wrist; the wing of the Afet they love most.

ATABEY

They have to travel to the highest mountain of Cihan and stay there together until the night falls and the northern lights shine above them. Some have to stay there for weeks until their marriage can be official.

BELIG

One partner’s caravan will pick up the other partner from their caravan, and offer a certain amount of money to them to be allowed to take them with them. After that is done, they travel together, and their tattoos will appear.

CAGLAYAN

They have to swim to the bottom of the ocean and find a pearl together. This pearl will then be cut in half and crafted into a necklace, and its magic will let the tattoo appear.

DEVRIM

They have to stand under a sacred belltower’s bell and say their vows. During the ceremony, they usually symbolically lay a chain around their wrists.

INCI

They have to visit the Rose Tree in the hidden heart of Omani and speak their vow. After marriage, they usually plant a tree somewhere near the rose tree.

ESER

They craft a small automaton together, which replaces the usual ceremony. After finishing the Automaton, its music will let their wing tattoos appear.

TAARIH

The concept of marriage is unknown to the Taarih, and therefore there is no ritual to conduct it, rendering them unable to marry.

DIVORCES

If one partner dies, the wing automatically vanishes on both their wrists. Other, less cruel ways of divorce are the following:

AFET

Banning an inner circle member will automatically make their tattoo vanish.

ATABEY

Hand in a divorce document to the HQ, and the tattoo will vanish.

BELIG

Leaving the partner’s caravan and paying back the money they paid will make the tattoos vanish.

CAGLAYAN

Throwing both necklaces back into the ocean will make the tattoos vanish.

DEVRIM

They have to cut apart their marriage day’s chain. If the chain is lost, they are doomed to stay married.

ESER

Destroying the automaton will make the tattoos vanish.

INCI

They have to revoke their vow in front of the Rose Tree.

TAARIH

Since Tarrih don't have any marriage rituals, they also can't divorce each other.
